If you are on Facebook I am sure you have seen your friends always posting products they are selling. I see this all the time from my friends who are posting about their MLM products and selling anything from weight loss products, nutritional products to just about anything else you can think of.
Don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with being involved in Network Marketing, in fact in one of my blog posts I even talk about Network Marketing Top 20 Reasons Why This Could Be Your Best Option
However, Facebook is a social networking site that makes it easy for you to connect and share with your family and friends online and always posting about your latest wares can become annoying which could have the effect of people unfriending you or blocking you.
Being a fan of Network Marketing and having been involved with 4 companies over the last 15 years I have learned lessons about what to do and not do on Facebook when it comes to promoting my opportunity and products.
I want to share with you some reasons why I feel you should NOT start a Facebook page for your Network Marketing business.
Let’s look at a typical situation.
Someone joins a new opportunity, and naturally they are pumped up about their products, financial rewards plan, bonuses their Network Marketing company offers so they start to blast their links on their profile page.
This action annoys their friends until finally they learn and decide it is better to move their business to a Facebook business page. Which is not a bad idea as it is better to do business on a business page anyway!
They start a Facebook business page, ask their friends to LIKE the page and then start posting all about the products and the opportunity on the page.
Most people would say this is a good move however let me give you some reasons why I believe this is NOT the right move.
– The chances of you being with the same Network Marketing company and selling the same product in 6 months time is very slim.
Fact is most people fizzle out within few months of joining their Network Marketing company. For various reasons they stop working the business and move on to other things. See my blog post Why People Fail In Network Marketing Top 10 Reasons
If this is true, which it is, and you spend time and effort creating a Facebook business page then all that work you did is pointless and waste of time.
– Your Network Marketing Goes Out of Business. Let’s say you work hard and build a Facebook business page for your Network Marketing company and it goes out of business.
What happens to your fans and the Likes you can’t now use?
Chances are your fans won’t be interested in hearing about another product you want to sell.
Also keep in mind once you hit a certain number of Likes on your Facebook business page Facebook will not allow you to change the name of the page.
So,once again the page you worked so hard to create and build up your fans on is now useless.
– Network Marketing Companies DON’T allow distributors to create Facebook pages using the company name or logo.
If you want to check this out read your Distributor Agreement and if you set up a Facebook page using the company name or logo you risk your account being suspended and even terminated.
Even Facebook’s terms and conditions state that if you are not an official representative of the company you are not allowed to run a page in the company’s name.
– Creates Confusion and Dilutes The Brand
Imagine if all Network Marketing distributors had Facebook business pages about their Network Marketing businesses, this could have the effect of creating confusion in the eyes of the consumer who will not know who is the official representative.
Also having too many pages about the same thing will dilute the brand.
– You are not branding YOU, you’re branding the company.
The important thing to understand is in Network Marketing people don’t join the company they join YOU so the brand you should be building is YOU.
By building YOU inc brand you will in no time be seen as a leader who will start to attract people as people like to work with leaders. You will become the hunted instead of the hunter.
Success in Network Marketing comes from building 1 on 1 relationships which is not possible if you are just blasting your Facebook posts and asking people to buy your products.
The most successful distributors on Facebook don’t rely on a sales pitch, they are powerful Networkers who create relationships and by sharing positive thoughts and their energy they attract people to them.
The key is they provide enough value for their fans to chase them.
